The death a woman whose burning body was found along a Salisbury Township, Pa. road was ruled a homicide Friday, according to police.
The Lehigh County Coroner's Office said the woman, described as a light-skinned Hispanic female between 20 to 40 years old, died of suffocation and thermal injuries.
A resident called police around 9:30 a.m. Thursday after seeing something burning along the road by the Umani Fish & Game shooting club on Chestnut Hill Road in Salisbury Township, Pa., according to EmmausPatch.
Deputy Coroner Ray Anthony pronounced the unidentified woman dead at 10:20 a.m.
Investigators describe the woman as having brown hair, about 5-foot to 5-foot-2-inches tall, 150 to 175 pounds, with a tattoo on the right side of her neck with the inscription "JAVI." Investigators also tell NBC10 that the victim was wearing wearing gray sweatpants, a red shirt, a yellow metal hoop earring and a woven style bracelet with Puerto Rican flag beads.
Authorities mentioned no connection to the nearby gun club, which opened for normal business Thursday. A representative from the club said that they don't know what happened, though the body was possibly found on the outskirts of their property.
This is the second time this year a woman's body was found in the area. A 20-year-old woman was found stabbed to death on Lanze Lane back in July. SalisburyPatch reports that a 20-year-old man was arrested and charged with homicide in that case.
