Burglar Targets Cars at ShopRite: Cops

It happened Wednesday, April 18 at 10:30 a.m. at the ShopRite on Chews Landing Road in Chews Landing.

Police are investigating the burglary of several unlocked cars in the parking lot of a Gloucester Township ShopRite.

It happened Wednesday, April 18 at 10:30 a.m. at the ShopRite on Chews Landing Road in Chews Landing.

Surveillance video captured an unidentified man driving into the parking lot. After exiting the vehicle, he is seen observing the other customers park their cars for several minutes. He is then seen walking across the lot and checking cars for unlocked doors before successfully entering several vehicles.

Surveillance video also shows another man approach the suspect as he tries to enter another car. The suspect is seen running completely around the building before returning to his car and fleeing the scene.

Investigators say a shopper later told store security about the suspect and police were notified. Investigators also say none of the owners of the cars the suspect entered have reported a theft to police.

Police say the suspect was wearing a white t-shirt, Gray hooded sweatshirt and dark pants with large white stripes down the sides. They also believe he drives a tan 4-door Chevy Blazer with a white sticker on the lower right rear window and a black roof rack.
