Surveillance Video Catches Allentown Bar Shooting

Man killed after altercation in parking lot turns deadly

A parking lot altercation that spilled into an Allentown, Pa. bar ended with a man being shot to death.

Surveillance video was rolling as the chaotic scene unfolded at the Philly's Steaks Sports Bar and Grill along the 1100 block of Hamilton Street just after 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, police said.

"Bullets were flying all over there," said Omar Yildirim, owner of Philly’s Steaks.

Caught in the spray of bullets was 25-year-old Kevin Cobbs, Jr. The Allentown native later died at a local hospital.

"It was chaotic and it wasn’t a nice thing to see,” said Yildirim.

Four men can be seen in the surveillance video arguing outside the bar. As Cobbs walked inside, a man ran up and fired almost a dozen shots into the bar's take out section.

At least one of those bullets hit Cobbs, who ran through the restaurant and later collapsed in the kitchen.

"They realized the guy coming back and they run in to save their lives," said Yildirim.

Workers and patrons of the bar ducked for cover as the gunfire erupted. Glass was left broken and the walls riddled with bullet holes.

Yildirim said the gunman and another man fled but managed to fire even more shots from the outside before leaving.

Police are still investigating the murder but have not identified a suspect or suspects. If you have any information, call the Allentown Police at 610.437.7751.
