A lawsuit aimed at stopping motorists from an established practice of parking in the median in Philadelphia has been tossed out of court.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reports a judge dismissed the lawsuit Wednesday "with prejudice," meaning it cannot be refiled. Court documents did not detail the judge's legal reasoning.
Jake Liefer filed the lawsuit July 20 to end parking on the Broad Street median. Liefer previously said he filed the lawsuit in the interest of public safety.
His attorney did not respond to requests for comment.
Median parking supporters say it helps with the lack of public parking in the area. The 1.5-mile strip can hold about 200 cars.
The city's parking authority and police don't ticket drivers for the practice, even though it is against the law.
