Boys Choir Founder Charged With Rape, Child Porn

The founder of a northeastern Pennsylvania boys choir who's charged with rape has been ordered to stand trial on separate child porn charges.

Seventy-four-year-old Kenneth Bernard Schade was arrested March 26 and has been unable to post bail. The founder of the Singing Boys Choir of Pennsylvania has been accused of raping a teenage boy in 1996.

On Wednesday, he waived his preliminary hearing on charges of child porn and evidence tampering.

Police investigating the alleged rape case said they discovered Schade had more than 1,000 child pornography images stuffed into two suitcases.

Monroe County prosecutors want to combine the child porn and rape cases.

Defense attorney Phil Lauer disagrees, saying they're "two very different events."

A trial date has not been set.
