Boy, 11, Shot Inside Home

An 11-year-old boy became one of the victim’s a violent assault inside a Philadelphia home overnight.

Two armed men stormed into a home on the 100 block of W Huntingdon Avenue (near Hope Street) around 1:25 a.m. -- one holding a gun and the other a knife -- and demanded the occupant's belongings, according to Philadelphia Police.

The armed men then forced the people inside the row home into the basement, according to detectives.

At some point, officers say that at least one of the men opened fire, hitting an 11-year-old boy in the arm and his 33-year-old male relative -- possibly the boy's father or stepfather -- in the leg.

Someone drove both gunshot victims to Episcopal Hospital. From there, medics rushed the boy to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children while medics rushed the man to Temple University Hospital. Both were listed in stable condition, according to investigators.

The armed men then left the home without taking anything, police said. Police described the suspects as young men with beards who were wearing jeans.

It’s unclear who the attack targeted and what circumstances led to the shooting. Police also didn't reveal how many people inside the home were forced into the basement.
