Body of Missing Philly Swimmer Recovered on SC Coast

Authorities say the body of a third person who disappeared over the weekend while in the water off Hunting Island has washed ashore.

Investigators said a beachgoer found the body of 17-year-old Mikee Phomma of Philadelphia around noon Wednesday on a beach about 3.5 miles from Fripp Island inlet where he was last seen Sunday.

Beaufort County deputies say Phomma was on a boogie board with his cousin, 16-year-old Nathan Mok, and Mok's father, 38-year-old Tiem Mok, both of Chesnee. A rip current began pulling them from shore and the board slipped from beneath them. Investigators say none of the group could swim.

A 14-year-old girl on the boogie board managed to make it back to shore safely.

Nathan Mok's body was found Sunday, and Tiem Mok's body was recovered on Monday.

All three were part of a group of family members on vacation, according to The (South Carolina) State.

No foul play is suspected in the drownings.
