Body Recovered in Search for Woman Missing in Pennypack Creek

Rescue crews have recovered a body believed to be that of a woman swept away by waters in a northeast Philadelphia creek.

Emergency responders were called to Pennypack Park at about 6:45 p.m. Saturday by a man who said a 30-year-old woman he was with was missing.

The man said the two were taking pictures in a storm drain when the water swept her away. A flash flood warning was in effect at the time.

A marine unit searched until about 9 p.m. Saturday and resumed the effort after daybreak, and officials say a woman's body was recovered at about 10 a.m. Sunday.
