Cops ID Body Found at Del. Recycling Plant

Homeless man's body found at a recycling company in New Castle

The body of a homeless Stanton man was found Thursday at a recycling company in Delaware.

The discovery was made around 9 a.m. at All Star Shredding and Recycling in the Delaware River Industrial Park on Dockview Drive in New Castle, according to Delaware State Police.

The body was that of 49-year-old Eric Jones, police said Thursday night.

His body was found fully clothed, among paper, cardboard and trash that was dropped off and being sorted Thursday morning.

Jones had "pre-mortem and post-mortem injuries consistent with the powerful crushing ability of being within a compactor utilized by a recycle truck," police said.

No foul play was suspected but it still wasn't clear how Jones wound up in the dumpster or where the dumpster was picked up.

It's possible that Jones body was in the bin for a couple of days, police said.

An autopsy and toxicology was being conducted to determine exactly how Jones died, cops said.

All Star Shredding and Recycling deals with several thousand tons of material each month -- It's delivered to them from around the state by up to a dozen trash haulers.
