Rydell: Busted Hip Made Me Seem Drunk

Bobby Rydell ran his Bentley into a Main Line yoga center while running an errand to pick up some of his favorite potato salad.

It's true he'd had a couple of cocktails for lunch a little earlier but that's not why he couldn't lift his leg during the sobriety test by Lower Merion police Monday.

"I should have told him that I'd just had a hip transplant and I can't do that period."

Rydell was on his way home from getting his Bentley detailed and was about to pop into the grocery store on Montgomery Avenue to satisfy a craving.

"I wanted to stop at the ACME to buy some potato salad that I love there," he said. "I see this guy right behind, I mean he's this far away from me and I panic."

Rydell's Bentley hopped the curb, hitting the Jai Yoga storefront.

"And when we saw the man trying to pull out then back again into the building, we asked him to stop, he wouldn't stop," said store co-owner Erica Taxin-Bleznak.

"When he finally opened up his car door and kind of stumbled out he was visibly drunk."

And although, according to the teen idol, Taxin-Bleznak is mistaken, only time will tell. The results of Rydell's blood test should be in early next week.
