‘Bluish Glow' From Van Leads to Child Porn Arrest

Investigators say a strange glow from a van parked outside a rec center led to a child porn arrest in Lower Providence Township.

On October 3, around 10 p.m., a Lower Providence Police Officer was on patrol when he noticed a white Chevrolet van parked in the parking lot of the Audubon Recreation Field located at the intersection of Pawlings and Audubon Roads.

The officer noticed there was a bluish glow coming from the back of the van and that there didn’t appear to be anyone in the front seats, according to investigators.

Police say the officer approached the van on foot. As he got closer, a man, identified as 47-year-old Terrence King of Norristown, Pa., exited the vehicle. King allegedly told the officer he was looking at pornography on his laptop computer.

Police say the officer searched the van and found the laptop on the floor of the cargo area of the van. Police also say the officer found two pictures of naked, underage girls on the computer.

The computer was turned over to the Montgomery County Detective Bureau while King was released at the scene pending the investigation.

Investigators say they eventually found 14 images of child pornography. They then issued a warrant for King’s arrest on Oct. 28.

On Oct. 31, King turned himself in to police, according to officials. He was arrested and charged with possession of child pornography and criminal use of a communication facility. He was committed to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility in default of $75,000 cash bail.
