Temple: Bill Cosby Won't Speak at Commencement

Temple University alumnus Bill Cosby won't be a speaker at the university's commencement next month, as he has often been at past ceremonies.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports
that Temple officials confirmed Saturday that Cosby will not speak at the May 8 commencement.

University spokesman Ray Betzner said Cosby spoke in the past "as a member of the board of trustees" but resigned months ago "and so is not on the program."

Cosby resigned from the board Dec. 1 after serving for more than three decades. He had been a wildly popular speaker at university commencements for years.

The action came after renewed allegations by women alleging decades-old sexual assaults. Cosby has strongly denied wrongdoing and has never been criminally charged.
