Philadelphia Bike Officer Hurt In Hit and Run

A Philadelphia Police officer has been hurt after being hit by a driver, who then fled the scene.

The unidentified bicycle officer, along with three other officers, tried pulling over the driver of a gray Chevy Impala who hit several parked cars along the 3800 block of Marshall Street just before 8 p.m. on Friday, police said.

Philadelphia Police Inspector Scott Small says the driver then drove at police along the 3700 block of Franklin Street, hitting the officer in the arm.

The driver continued along down Erie Avenue before crashing into the front of a dry cleaners at 9th Street, according to police.

Small said the officer suffered minor injuries and did not need to be hospitalized.

Police took the driver into custody at the scene of the crash. He was taken to nearby Temple University Hospital where he is listed in stable condition.

Police are investigating the incident.
