Biden's Niece Undergoing Treatment After Arrest

A lawyer for Vice President Joe Biden's niece says she's undergoing treatment after her arrest on charges she scuffled with New York City police.

Attorney Ira London wouldn't specify what sort of treatment 26-year-old Caroline Biden is undergoing or where she's pursuing it.

She was excused from a court date Tuesday in her misdemeanor resisting-arrest case.

London and Manhattan prosecutors say they hope to resolve the case at her next court date, Feb. 5

Biden was arrested Sept. 17, after her roommate called police about a rent dispute. A court complaint says a niece of Vice President Joe Biden hit a police officer in the chest and resisted being put in a holding cell during her New York City arrest.

Caroline Biden did not enter a plea Tuesday at her first court date in the misdemeanor case.

The vice president's office declined to comment on the case. His brother James Biden is Caroline Biden's father.
