Bethany Beach Adds New Trolley to Fleet

The Daily Times reports the town will spend about $167,000 for the new trolley. It will be the town's third trolley and is meant to compensate for mechanical problems on the other vehicles.

The Bethany Beach Town Council has approved the purchase of a new trolley to add to its fleet for the summer season.

The Daily Times reports the town will spend about $167,000 for the new trolley. It will be the town's third trolley and is meant to compensate for mechanical problems on the other vehicles.

Officials say the trolleys are popular with children and help cut down on traffic.

Bethany purchased its first trolley in 2003 and another in 2005. They both have about 25,000 miles on them. Officials don't expect to operate all three trolleys at the same time, but that could change. Plans call for using one trolley as a backup.

The new trolley will be equipped with handicap ramps and will have a larger diesel engine.
