Person Struck by Amtrak Train in Bensalem

A person was struck by an Amtrak train in Bensalem, Pennsylvania Sunday night, according to officials.

An Amtrak spokeswoman told NBC10 Train 672 which departed from Harrisburg and was heading to New York, struck a person near the Cornwells Heights Station on the 700 block of Station Avenue around 7:30 p.m. The victim was taken to the hospital. Officials have not yet revealed his or her condition.

Both SEPTA's Trenton line and Amtrak service were suspended in the area but later resumed.

The incident occurred the same day two people were killed and dozens more injured when an Amtrak train crashed into a backhoe on the tracks just south of Philadelphia.
