Bench, Plaque, Trees Dedicated to 3-Year-Old New Jersey Boy Allegedly Killed by Father

A bench, a plaque and three trees in a park in New Jersey have been dedicated to the memory of a 3-year-old who police say was killed by his father.

Family and friends gathered in Cooper River Park in Haddon Township Sunday near where Brendan Creato's body was found in October of 2015.

Instead of his name, the plaque features the lyrics "Captain Hook you are my perfect story book, Neverland I love you so, you are now my home sweet home," from the song "Lost Boy" by Ruth B.

Camden County Freeholder Jeff Nash says that the bench will be a place people can remember the boy described as an old soul with positive energy by his mother.

"This bench represents a place of reflection rather than sadness," Nash said. "People can come and reflect on the good of this little boy instead of the sad of his passing."

Prosecutors say the boy was killed by David Creato because his girlfriend resented dealing with the child's mother.

He has pleaded not guilty and his trial is scheduled for next year.
