Witness Scares Off Bella Vista Assault Suspect

A witness spotted a man holding an unconscious person outside a Bella Vista home last Wednesday and shouted, causing the assault suspect to drop the victim to the ground, police said.

The witness hear a loud thump outside a home on 8th Street, between Christian and Carpenter streets, just after 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 15, authorities said.

Looking outside, the witness saw the man holding the unconscious victim and asked what was happening, causing the suspect to put the victim on the ground and run from the scene, officials said.

The assailant was last seen heading north on 8th Street.

Surveillance video captured the suspect, who police described as a man in his 20s, who is 5-feet 7-inches tall with a medium build.

Investigators said the man was wearing a camouflage hooded sweatshirt, black jacket, black pants and a white skull cap during the assault.
