Bees Swarm Travel Stop in Pa.

There was a lot of buzz happening at a central Pennsylvania travel stop this week.

Employees at Love's Travel Stop, in Lebanon County off Interstate 81, say a tractor-trailer carrying honey bees pulled into the truck stop Wednesday and as many as a million bees somehow escaped and covered a tree in the parking lot.

Beekeeper Bill Fisher used a vacuum cleaner to extract the aggressive bees from the tree and brought them to his bee farm in Hummelstown.

He was stung more than 40 times during the removal and estimates up to 20 colonies of bees escaped.

Fisher said the state Agriculture Department will take a sample from the captured colonies to make sure they aren't Africanized bees, also known as killer bees because they're so aggressive.
