Man Kills Himself After Chesco Barricade: Cops

Police say they discovered the body of a man who died from self-inflicted gunshot wounds after a barricade situation in Chester County.

Police say a man is dead after a barricade situation at a Chester County home.

Authorities arrived at a house on Brighton Circle near Route 30 in Caln Township after Police say Jerry Redden, 39, barricaded himself inside while armed with a weapon.

A swat team surrounded the home as officials attempted to make contact with Redden shortly after 3 p.m., according to investigators. Police say he refused to open his door.

More officers and several local agencies were called to the scene to establish a safe perimeter as officials tried to talk with Redden. 

Officers finally entered the home at 6:30 p.m. They searched through the house where they say they found Redden's body inside the basement. Police say he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. No one else was inside the home during the ordeal, according to investigators. Police continue to investigate.
