Stolen Chihuahua Returned Home

Bambi picked up Monday afternoon

A puppy that was stolen from a parked car in Center City over the weekend was returned to its home Monday.

Cindy Escobedo said that she received a call from a man named Darryl who had their Chihuahua Bambi.

Darryl claimed he saw a man walking down the street asking if anyone wanted to buy the pup. Darryl recognized the pet and convinced the guy to just give him the dog, he said.

Escobedo and co-owner Johnny Alexander picked up their three-pound pup around 27th Street and Ridge Ave. Monday afternoon.

Bambi, an 11-month-old Chihuahua, was snatched from a parked car near 15th and Race Streets early Sunday morning. Allegedly whoever took Bambi smashed out a window of the car and grabbed a dog carrier that looks kind of like a purse.

Escobedo and Alexander had offered a $5,000 reward for the return of their beloved pet. But, Darryl refused to take any money. Bambi’s owners still hope to give Darryl some sort of reward.
