Twice the Bald Eaglets in Pennsylvania Nest

Eaglet number two has emerged in Pittsburgh.

The Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania says the second eaglet of the season from three eggs laid last month hatched at about 9:40 p.m. Tuesday. The bald eagles nesting in the city's Hays neighborhood are expected to welcome a third eaglet later this week.

The first eaglet hatched early Monday.

This is the fourth year in the city for the bald eagles nesting on a bluff above the Monongahela River. Ornithologists say they're the first eagles to nest in the city in at least a century and a half.
