Men Kill for a Backpack: Officials

2 arrested, woman sought in Chester Co. robbery, killing

Police have charged two people with killing a Guatemalan immigrant for his backpack in Chester County.

Phoenixville Police say they're still seeking a third person in last week's killing of 22-year-old Selvin Mamerto Lopez-Mauricio.

Lopez-Mauricio who lived on the 100 block of Prospect Street was shot after resisting an attempt to steal his backpack, Chief William Mossman said.

Two men, 20-year-old Saleem Williams of the 200 block of Greenwood Road in Sharon Hill, Pa. and 23-year-old Stephen Reidler of the unit black of Sacco Road in Linfield, Pa. allegedly accosted Lopez-Mauricio around 12:40 a.m. on Sept 14, investigators said.

The men admitted their roles in the crime, police said.

Williams and Reidler were arraigned Wednesday on robbery, murder and weapons charges.

Police say they're looking for 18-year-old Monique Robinson of the 700 block of W Bridge Street in Phoenixville. She was allegedly implicated by the suspects as being involved in the incident, cops said.

Anyone with knowledge of Robinson’s whereabouts should call Phoenixville Police.
