Baby Found Abandoned in Norristown: Cops

Police are searching for the mother of a baby boy found abandoned in Norristown.

Police are searching for the mother of a baby boy found abandoned in Norristown.

Police say the child was found alone in a stroller on East Spruce Street around 8:25 a.m. Police also say a blue and red duffel bag with several baby items was found nearby.

Staff members of Central Montgomery County Mental Health and Mental Retardation were able to bring the boy into their office just before it began to rain, according to the Norristown Patch.

Responding police officers notified the Montgomery County Office of Children & Youth who took the baby into custody, according to the Patch. Police say the boy is 8-months-old.

The boy underwent a checkup by the Montgomery County Health Department, according to the Patch. The Montgomery County Communications Director Frank Custer told the Patch the boy was in good condition and “looked healthy.” The Health Department also told the Patch however the boy had a slight fever but no serious injuries or sicknesses. The Patch reports the child is being sent to a Chester County foster home until a parent or guardian is located.

Police identified the boy's mother as Chrissie Williams and are currently searching for her. If you have any information on her whereabouts, please call Norristown Police at 610-270-0977.
