Awning Falls at Unused Princeton Train Station

Authorities say an awning at a decommissioned train station in Princeton has tipped over onto the tracks.

A Princeton University spokesman tells The Trenton Times that no injuries have been reported at the Dinky station.

Fire and rescue personnel responded to the scene around 4:25 p.m. after a 200-foot section of awning fell onto the tracks.

University spokesman Martin Mbugua says the station has been fenced off from the public since it was taken out of service last month.

The train line has been shortened to make room for new development. The school plans to convert the station's two historic buildings into a cafe and restaurant.

The new Princeton train stop is about 1,200 feet from the old station. A New Jersey Transit spokeswoman says service was not affected.
