Attorney General Sues to Close Motorcycle Club

Attorney General Beau Biden has filed suit to shut down an alleged motorcycle gang's clubhouse in Wilmington.

Biden said on Monday that he had filed suit April 11 in New Castle County Superior Court to have property in the 2800 block of Northeast Boulevard declared a criminal nuisance.

Biden says that the site is the national clubhouse for the Thunderguards Motorcycle Club. The suit alleges that an adjacent parking lot and nearby storage units are used for criminal activity.

Officials say five homicides and several shootings have occurred on the property since 2006.

Under Delaware's criminal nuisance abatement law, Biden is asking the court to order the Thunderguards to vacate its clubhouse and storage units, and bar alleged gang members from the entire block.

Last week Biden announced he won't seek re-election as the Delaware attorney general this year but plans to run for governor in 2016. He is the eldest son of Vice President Joe Biden.
