A judge has sentenced two New Jersey men to 32 years in prison for a shooting that left a police officer partially paralyzed.
Martell Chisholm and Demetris Cross were sentenced Monday after their convictions on attempted murder and robbery charges in connection with the September 2016 shooting.
Authorities say 31-year-old Chisholm, 30-year-old Cross and 25-year-old Jerome Damon were trying to rob three men near the Caesars Atlantic City parking garage when Officer Josh Vadell and his partner arrived.
Vadell was shot in the head, and his partner returned fire and struck and killed Damon.
Vadell remains partially paralyzed on his left side and has since retired from the force.
Attorneys for Chisholm and Cross previously said their clients were unarmed and didn't know Damon had a gun.
