Atlantic City Expressway Crash Hurts 5, Snarls Traffic

Traffic heading back from the Jersey Shore Memorial Day morning backed up for miles after a minivan crashed into a tree along the Atlantic City Expressway..

New Jersey State Police said that the minivan left the roadway near mile-marker 38 in Sicklerville, N.J. around 8:30 a.m.

Five people were ejected from the minivan during the crash and all suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Crews could be seen tending to one victim next to the van.

The force of the crash caused the van to lose it's rear tire as the vehicle careened into the woods on the side of the highway.

Traffic backed up approaching Williamstown Road as only one lane got by the scene but the road was expected to be closed so that a medivac helicopter could respond to the scene.

Traffic was getting by the crash by 10:30 a.m. as the investigation into the wreck continued..
