Atlantic City Casino Workers, Threatening July 4th Strike, Reach Agreement with 4 Casinos

Atlantic City's main casino workers union has reached agreement on a new contract with four of the five casinos it had been targeting for a strike this weekend.

Local 54 of the Unite-HERE union said Thursday morning that it had a new deal with three casinos owned by Caesars Entertainment: Bally's, Caesars and Harrah's. Thursday afternoon, a source with Local 54 confirmed with NBC10 that a tentative deal was also reached with Tropicana.

Talks continue with the fifth casino, Trump Taj Mahal, which is owned by billionaire investor Carl Icahn.

A strike against the Trump Taj Mahal could happen Friday if a new deal is not reached.

Terms of the contract were not immediately revealed.

The union wants the return of concessions it gave the casinos in past contracts when their finances were shakier.

The casinos said they want a deal that's fair to both sides.
