112-Year-Old Atlantic City Bakery Closes as Part of Merger

More than just casinos are closing in Atlantic City.

The Press of Atlantic City reports that the 112-year-old Ginsburg Bakery has told employees it plans to close its facility in the city and move to Bellmawr, Camden County.

News of the impending closure came in a WARN notice filed with the state's Department of Labor and Workforce Development. The notice says some employees will be able to apply for jobs at the new facility.

The move is part of the company's merger with the Baker Boys and the fresh direct store delivery line of Amoroso's Baking Company.

The company has received $20 million worth of future tax credits from the state's Economic Development Authority based on its promise to add 140 new jobs and make a $20 million capital investment by July 2017.
