A slew of shootings left at least six people dead and several others injured as violence erupted during Labor Day weekend in Philadelphia.
A 23-year-old woman was on the 2500 block of North Alder Street around 4:20 p.m. Sunday when a gunman opened fire. The woman was shot at least once in the chest and taken to Temple University Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 5:33 p.m.
In Southwest Philadelphia, police said they found a 22-year-old man with gunshots throughout his body around 12:30 a.m. Sunday in the 7500 block of Brewster Avenue. The man died of his injuries and the suspected shooter, who fired more than 20 rounds, left in a red Nissan with a plastic back covering the back of the windshield, police said.
In North Philadelphia, authorities said a 19-year-old was shot once in the back around 2:42 a.m. and taken to Temple University Hospital in critical condition. Less than an hour later, in the Kensington section of the city, another man was taken in critical condition to the same hospital after being shot multiple times.
Police said gunfire shortly before 7 a.m. Saturday in the Hunting Park neighborhood of north Philadelphia killed a 25-year-old man and a 31-year-old man and wounded two other men listed in stable condition.
Shortly after 1:30 a.m. Saturday in west Philadelphia, a 32-year-old man was found in a vehicle with gunshot wounds. He later died at a hospital.
A double shooting at about 10:45 p.m. Friday in Southwest Philadelphia killed one 24-year-old woman and critically wounded another 24-year-old woman.
