Armed Robbers Terrorize Employees Inside Bank

Police are on the hunt for three men who terrorized employees and customers during a bank robbery in East Pikeland, Chester County.

On Tuesday, around 11 a.m., three masked men armed with guns rushed into the Wells Fargo Bank on the 200 block of Schuylkill Road.

"They jumped up on the counter and ordered everybody down," said East Pikeland Police Corporal Ben Martin. "They went behind the counter and took money out of the drawers."

Police say there were seven employees and one elderly customer inside at the time.

The suspects allegedly jumped over the bank counter, pointed their guns towards the tellers and removed money from the drawers before fleeing the bank. No one was hurt during the ordeal.

Investigators say they then entered a getaway vehicle, described as a light blue minivan, driven by an unidentified woman.

"They're desperate and it's sad that people are like that," said Jim McCarraher, who visits the bank every week. "I'm always going to bank there but you have to look over your shoulder because you just never know."

Police released surveillance photos of the suspects. No arrests have been made.

A detective also told NBC10 that the robbery may be connected to a similar incident that took place at a Wells Fargo in Bala Cynwyd last Wednesday. During that incident, three masked men also terrorized customers and jumped over counters before stealing an unspecified amount of cash as well as cell phones.
