Police Drill Puts Commuters on Edge

Police with powerful rifles greeted commuters at area train stations this morning.

Some commuters turned to Twitter after police and K-9 units showed up at various PATCO stations in South Jersey.

“Nothing like the State Police complete with K9 unit and bullet proof vests swarming the Collingswood PATCO to get your adrenaline going,” tweeted Meg McLaughlin.

NBC10 viewer Bill Talbot snapped a photo of armed police outside the Ferry Avenue Station in Camden, N.J. and sent it to NBC10.

With recent incidents like the Boston Marathon bombings people and authorities are on heightened alert.

NBC10 checked it out and it runs out this show of force was nothing more than a drill.

The drill was a regularly scheduled monthly drill, Delaware River Port Authority (the company that operates PATCO) spokesman Tim Ireland told NBC10.
