“Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights” Proposed in NJ

Proposal gets more attention after Rutgers student's suicide last month

New Jersey lawmakers are introducing a proposed "anti-bullying bill of rights" to reform the state's anti-bullying law.

The proposed changes have been in the works for months. But they're likely to get more attention in the wake of a Rutgers University student's suicide last month.

Authorities accused Tyler Clementi's roommate of broadcasting the 18-year-old freshman's gay sexual encounter online.

That was perhaps the highest-profile case in a string of suicides by teenagers who were bullied because they were gay or perceived as being gay.
