Car Dangles Over Creek Guardrail

Four people in a car just missed ending up in the Wissahickon Creek as a crash left their SUV dangling over a guardrail.

An SUV with four occupants just missed crashing into the Wissahickon Creek as the car dangled over a guardrail Wednesday afternoon. 

The accident happened at Lincoln Drive and Gypsy Lane, police said.

The car crashed onto, but not over, a guardrail over the creek at about 3 p.m. Wednesday.

The four people who were in the car got out and were uninjured, according to a police spokesperson. Two of the passengers were children, ages 10 and 15. The other victims were the 26-year old driver and a 46-year old passenger. All were taken to Einstein Medical Center for evaluation.

Last week a 24-year-old man attempted suicide by driving his car into the Schuylkill River at Kelly Drive and Strawberry Mansion Drive. The man swam to shore and was helped out by bystanders.

On September 29 a woman drove her car into the Schuylkill River at Ferry Drive and Kelly Drive. Her body was found a few days later.
