An ambulance and a station wagon collided overnight, killing one person and injuring four others.
At about 2:40 a.m. early Saturday morning, a Dodge Magnum traveling north on Broad Street jumped the medium into the southbound lanes. There at 66th Avenue, the vehicle collided with a Keystone Quality transport ambulance.
Authorities say that he 19-year old car driver of the Magnum was killed in the collision. Police also say that a 24-year old passenger was transported to Albert Einstein Medical Center.
Three people in the ambulance, a 63-year old male patient, a 28-year old medic and a 24-year old driver were taken to Einstein as well.
Philadelphia Police Department investigators say that the car was heading north on Broad Street when it crossed into the oncoming lane, collided with the ambulance and caught caught fire. They suspect that the car may have been involved in a drag race.
