Pa. Girl Found After Amber Alert

Authorities say a 10-year-old girl who was abducted from her home in Pennsylvania has been found safe in upstate New York and that her alleged abductor is in custody.

An Amber Alert was issued Thursday for a green Saab last seen traveling north on I-81 near Syracuse. State police say the car was believed to be heading to Norwood, north of Potsdam in St. Lawrence County.

State police say the girl, identified as Alexandria Jade Long, was abducted in Gordon, Pa. She has short brown hair, hazel eyes and was last seen wearing black wire framed glasses.

Police say the suspect, Peter Tarbox, also of Gordon, Pa., is a former acquaintance of the abducted girl's mother. They say he's a stranger to the child.

Tarbox, 39, was taken into custody in the town of Gouverneur in St. Lawrence County, N.Y. It was not known if he had a lawyer.
