Allentown Man Severely Beats 2-Year-Old Girl: Cops

An Allentown man is under arrest after allegedly severely beating a 2-year-old girl over a period of three months, according to the Morning Call.

The Morning Call reports that on March 7th, 24-year-old Brandon Bishop moved into an apartment with his fiancé, Candace Watts and her two-year-old daughter.

That’s when police say the vicious cycle of abuse began.

Bishop allegedly punched the girl in the face, head, back, stomach, legs and crotch. He then allegedly choked the girl and suffocated her by covering her mouth with his hands from 30 seconds to a minute. He also allegedly picked her up by the hair, dropped her onto the concrete floor and hit her over the head with a metal spoon.

Police say that the abuse lasted from March 7th until May 18th, according to the Morning Call. The girl’s mother allegedly witnessed the repeated abuse and did nothing.

The Morning Call says that police began investigating the abuse on May 19th though they won’t reveal who filed the report. On May 20th, the girl was interviewed by the Lehigh County Children and Youth Services.

By the time of the interview, the girl was reportedly missing clumps of hair, was bruised and walked with a limp.

She was taken and examined at the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest.

Both Bishop and Watts were taken into police custody and allegedly admitted to the abuse.

When asked why he beat the girl so severely, the Morning Call reports that Bishop claimed that the girl was a princess and needed a tougher upbringing.

Bishop is charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, simple assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

He was sent to Lehigh County Prison under $300,000 bail.

Watts was charged with endangering the welfare of a child. She was sent to county prison under $100,000 bail.
