Woman Charged in Grandfather's Stabbing Death

An Allentown woman was charged in the stabbing death of her grandfather.

Early Tuesday morning, investigators say a woman went to a police department in Bronx, New York and reported that a man had been killed inside a first-floor apartment on the 800 block of S 12th Street in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

The Bronx officers notified the Allentown Police Department shortly before 2:30 a.m. When Allentown officers checked the apartment, they found 65-year-old Wilson A. Mejias inside a bedroom covered in bedding, towels, sheets and plastic bags.

Around 4 a.m., Mejias was pronounced dead with multiple stab wounds. His death was ruled a homicide.

Tuesday afternoon, police announced that Mejias' granddaughter, 21-year-old Chene Mejias of Allentown, was charged in his death.

She is being detained in New York on an arrest warrant. Officials say her extradition proceedings will be initiated if she does not waive extradition from New York.
