Alleged Gunman Charged in Deadly Grays Ferry Shootout

The man who was injured in Friday's shootout is charged with weapons violations

One of the alleged gunmen in Friday's deadly shootout in Gray's Ferry is now charged with weapons violations.

Hakeem Burley, 22, and another man were shooting at each other on Corlies Street in broad daylight. Kids were just coming home from school and Clarice Douglas, mother of two, was out in front of her house. The two gunmen fired at least 18 shots over a span of about three blocks, according to police.

Several of those bullets hit Douglas. She ran up onto her porch, collapsed and later died at the hospital.

Burley was also shot and critically injured. He was released from the hospital on Tuesday and is now charged with carrying an unlicensed firearm and carrying a gun in public. Burley is in jail awaiting a preliminary hearing on May 8.

Police are looking for the second gunman. They have a warrant out for Shekinah Williams, 28, of the Point Breeze section of the city.
