Alleged Greys Ferry Gunman Hangs Self: Cops

Police arrested Shekinah Williams Sunday. He was wanted in the April shooting death of a 45-year-old mother.

Police say the man arrested Sunday for allegedly engaging in a gun battle that left a 45-year-old mother dead hanged himself in prison overnight, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

They say it seems he used a T-shirt to hang himself, reports the Inky.

Police arrested Shekinah Williams, 28, Sunday in connection with the murder of Clarice Douglas. She was killed on April 20 while standing out front of her home on the 1500 block of Corlies Street in Grays Ferry. Police say she was caught in the crossfire between Williams and Hakeen Burley, 22. Burley was also shot in the incident and treated at Temple University Hospital. He was arrested for the crime upon his release.

Williams eluded police for more than two months before he was arrested on the 2100 block of Sears Street.
