Alleged DUI Driver Pleads Not Guilty in Fatal Crash

A man who authorities say was driving drunk when he struck and killed a woman as she got into the back seat of a parked car in northern New Jersey last weekend has made his initial court appearance.

Robert Santiago of Clifton pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges of vehicular homicide, death by auto and two counts of assault by auto.

The Record reports that the 26-year-old Santiago is accused of killing 47-year-old Milagros Correa and injuring her sister, Ana Delgado of Clifton, and Correa's young daughter. The three Clifton residents had just left a baby shower when the accident occurred around 2:15 a.m. Sunday.

Correa was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead a short time later. Santiago was not injured.
