AC Units Stolen From SW Philly Church

Philadelphia police are searching for the person responsible for stealing central air conditioning units from a Southwest Philadelphia church Sunday.

It happened early Sunday morning at the Southwest Presbyterian Church located on the 2500 block of South 70th Street.

Police say a church member arrived at the church to turn on the air conditioning for the 9:30 a.m. service when they noticed the entire unit was gone, according to police.  Wires were cut and a second unit was damaged.

The church had to rely on fans to cool things down as the entire area endured the third day of a sweltering heat wave.

Church members say it was tough, but they made it through the service.
