17 Sex Offenders Dropped Off at Hotel

The mayor of Atlantic City is claiming that 31 paroled convicts, including 17 sex offenders, were dropped off at a city motel without local officials being notified.

Mayor Lorenzo Langford tells The Press of Atlantic City that the parolees included more than two dozen ex-cons. The sex offenders were classified as "Tier 1," meaning they are considered the least likely to be repeat offenders.

The parolees were dropped off last Thursday at a motel in the outskirts of the city.

Langford says the parolees were all moved out of Atlantic City on Tuesday.

The State Parole Board's executive director says police in Atlantic City are notified of drop-offs but declined to comment further on the specifics of the Atlantic City case.

The mayor says the parolees were bused out of town, but would not say where they were being sent.
