AC Electric Rate Decreases Begin Today

Average monthly savings of about $6.00 for customers

The price of turning on your lights in South Jersey has gotten a little cheaper. Electricity supply rate decreases for Atlantic City Electric customers went into effect today, according to the company.

Atlantic City Electric says the change for residential customers who use an average of 1,000 kilowatt hours of electricity a month will save about $5.80, or 4.5 percent of their $188.62 bills.

The company says the change in price comes as a result of lower commodity fuel prices the company obtained through a competitive bid process.

Supply rates account for 66 percent of a customer’s bill; while the other 34 percent cover the costs of service, according to the company.
