9-Year-Old Boy Shot in the Head

Agustin Rosado vividly remembers the emotional plea of a young boy moments after he was shot in the head.

"He said, 'Please sir, I don't want to die, don't let me die.' I told the boy, 'You're gonna be okay. God's with you and I'm with you here too,'" Rosado said.

The 9-year-old boy was walking on Knorr Street near Torresdale Avenue around 3:20 p.m. in the Tacony section of the city. According to witnesses, the boy had just visited the library and was walking home with his family.

As they were walking, witnesses say a car pulled up near the boy and his parents. That's when an unidentified man with a red bandanna around his head fired two shots before fleeing the scene, according to witnesses. The boy was grazed in the head by one of the bullets.

"I took cover," Rosado said. "Then I wrapped a towel around the boy's head."

The boy was taken to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia where he is currently in good condition.

Police don't believe the boy was the gunman's intended target. They continue to investigate.
