80 Drug Convictions Now Tossed Over Corrupt Narc Officer

At least 80 drug convictions linked to a corrupt Philadelphia police officer have been thrown out, while more remain under review.

A judge Friday dismissed the latest 17 cases where the evidence largely came from disgraced former Officer Jeffrey Walker. The defendants involved had all pleaded guilty.

Dozens of other convictions had previously been overturned, and hundreds of open cases dismissed.

Walker pleaded guilty in federal court this week to stealing $15,000 from a drug dealer and planting marijuana in his car.

His lawyer said he is cooperating in a broader probe of the drug trafficking unit.

The District Attorney's Office has agreed to the convictions overturned so far.

But spokeswoman Tasha Jamerson says prosecutors may challenge some of the remaining Walker cases, if they believe there is corroborating evidence.
