Boy Struck by Car in Broomall

A 7-year-old is hospitalized with serious injuries.

A 7-year-old boy was struck by a vehicle in Broomall, Delaware County, according to authorities.

It happened just after 12:30 p.m. along Sproul Road near Langford Road.

Police say the boy was riding his bicycle near the intersection when he was hit by the car. Officials say the boy was flown to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia with serious injuries. They also say it was not a hit-and-run.

Ed Shihadeh of Broomall tells NBC10 the road can be dangerous for both bicyclists and drivers.

"Sometimes you get the attitude, 'Hey! I'm in the car. I've got something that's bigger than you. Get out of my way!' Some of these kids think they're indestructible and you have to proceed with caution."

Police continue to investigate the crash. They also have not yet revealed whether the boy was wearing a helmet.
