6-Year-Old Describes Intruder Attack

The little girl tells NBC10's Rosemary Connors that she was trying to scream after the man grabbed her, but was too scared

A brave 6-year-old girl says she tried to fight back when an intruder came into her family's North Philadelphia apartment and grabbed a hold of her.

The girl tells NBC10's Rosemary Connors that when her brother went to take their dog outside this afternoon, a stranger spotted her waiting in the doorway of the family's apartment at 18th Street near Berks Street. She says he walked inside, locked the door and took her upstairs.

“He was trying to hold me and I was trying to get him off of me and he was holding me tight and I was trying to scream but I was scared to scream,” says the little girl.

The 6-year-old says the man was trying to kiss her, and that's when her Dad came running to her rescue. “I started swinging on him right here and I knocked him down the steps," said Shamont Carroll.

Police are searching for the intruder.

“His face should be lumped up and bleeding. I definitely got him but it’s nothing compared to what my daughter is dealing with now and later on," said Carroll.
