50-Year-Old Dynamite Removed from Pa. Historical Society

A central Pennsylvania building is considered safe after authorities were able to remove a stick of 50-year-old dynamite from a display case.

The Republican-Herald of Pottsville reported a worker found the item inside a cabinet at the Schuylkill Historical Society, and authorities were called in because it had started to deteriorate.

A police chief says there wasn't any danger.

Bomb disposal experts from the Reading Police Department removed the dynamite on Friday and burned it at a remote location.

Authorities say the dynamite had been in the case with other mining material for more than three years.
